God of all mercy, your Son proclaimed good news to the poor, release to the captives, and freedom to the oppressed: anoint us with your Holy Spirit and set all your people free to praise you in Christ our Lord.  Amen.

Direct us, Lord:

and we will follow.

In your prayers this week could you pray for our five overseas partner Dioceses especially today the Diocese of El Camino Real and for Churches Together, St. Bartholomew’s, Lower Cam.

Post Communion

Almighty Father, whose Son our Saviour Jesus Christ is the light of the world: may your people,
illumined by your word and sacraments, shine with the radiance of his glory, that he may be known, worshipped, and obeyed to the ends of the earth; for he is alive and reigns, now and for ever.  Amen.

Revelations 19 v6-10

6Then I heard what seemed to be the voice of a great multitude, like the sound of many waters and like the sound of mighty thunderpeals, crying out, “Hallelujah!  For the Lord our God
the Almighty reigns.  7Let us rejoice and exult
and give him the glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready; 8to her it has been granted to be clothed with fine linen, bright and pure”— for the fine linen is the righteous deeds of the saints.  9And the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.”  And he said to me, “These are true words of God.”  10Then I fell down at his feet to worship him, but he said to me, “You must not do that!  I am a fellow servant with you and your comrades who hold the testimony of Jesus.  Worship God!  For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”

Jesus calls us o’er the tumult

Jesus calls us: o’er the tumult

of our life’s wild, restless sea;

day by day his sweet voice soundeth,

saying, ‘Christian, follow me.’

As of old Saint Andrew heard it

by the Galilean lake,

turned from home and toil and kindred,

leaving all for his dear sake.

Jesus calls us from the worship

of the vain world’s golden store,

from each idol that would keep us,

saying, ‘Christian, love me more.’

In our joys and in our sorrows,

days of toil and hours of ease,

still he calls, in cares and pleasures,

that we love him more than these.

Jesus call us: by thy mercies,

Saviour, make us hear thy call,

give our hearts to thine obedience,

serve and love thee best of all.

Gospel Reading – John 2 v1-11

1On the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there.  2Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding.  3When the wine gave out, the mother of Jesus said to him, “They have no wine.”  4And Jesus said to her, “Woman, what concern is that to you and to me?  My hour has not yet come.”   His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.”  6Now standing there were six stone water jars for the Jewish rites of purification, each holding twenty or thirty gallons.  7Jesus said to them, “Fill the jars with water.”  And they filled them up to the brim.  8He said to them, “Now draw some out, and take it to the chief steward.”  So they took it.  9When the steward tasted the water that had become wine, and did not know where it came from (though the servants who had drawn the water knew), the steward called the bridegroom 10and said to him, “Everyone serves the good wine first, and then the inferior wine after the guests have become drunk.  But you have kept the good wine until now.”  11Jesus did this, the first of his signs, in Cana of Galilee, and revealed his glory; and his disciples believed in him.

Majesty, worship his majesty

Majesty, worship his majesty;

unto Jesus be glory, honour and praise.

Majesty, kingdom authority

flow from his throne unto his own:

his anthem raise.

So exalt, lift up on high the name of Jesus;

magnify, come glorify Christ Jesus the King.

Majesty, worship his majesty,

Jesus who died, now glorified,

King of all kings.

The Church’s one foundation

The Church’s one foundation

is Jesus Christ, her Lord;

she is his new creation,

by water and the word;

from heav’n he came and sought her

to be his holy bride,

with his own blood he bought her,

and for her life he died.

Elect from ev’ry nation,

yet one o’er all the earth,

her charter of salvation,

one Lord, one faith, one birth;

one holy name she blesses,

partakes one holy food,

and to one hope she presses,

with ev’ry grace endued.

Mid toil and tribulation,

and tumult of her war,

she awaits the consummation

of peace for evermore;

till with the vision glorious

her longing eyes are blest,

and the great Church victorious

shall be the Church at rest.

Yet she on earth hath union

with God the Three in One,

and mystic sweet communion

with those whose rest is won:

O happy ones and holy! Lord,

give us grace that we

like them, the meek and lowly,

on high may dwell with thee.
